Value of Education to progress in life

Education is one of major elements of one’s life to progress and also considering the growing number of citizens of our country and compared to that number the lack of availability of employment status which is certainly a crucial factor for the young generation, it can be said that its only education which can make things better for us.  Consider to our social category and where we belong, there is a visible distinction of three classes of people in our society at present. Among which the first grade are those who are called upper middle class people, the second class are consisting of people like us, who belong to the lower middle class and lastly the economically challenged people.

Given a significant thought we would be able to understand that one of the key reasons for having problems in the society is classification, based on the economic condition of the people. People are from higher middle class family, who are mostly small businessmen or working in big private sectors. On the other hand people whose monthly income is around 12-25 thousand / per month, either working in small companies or availing small businesses like shops consultant etc. are the lower middle class people and the last part which is the poor class are those associated with four class staff categorical professions.

While, discussing the classification and its impact on our society and life, there are certain things which can’t be ignored. One of those major factors is education, for quite a long time in our state English and computer have been avoided or restricted among a certain category of people. However for last couple of years that trend has changed to some extent and as result people from all classes are getting benefited by learning the skills. But the impact of the procedure that we had followed for forty years clearly left its negative mark on the society which caused a prominent classification in our culture.

While discussing the present situation of the employment system in our state the first thing that I would lay emphasize on is the fact that the lower middle class people like me, who could not be able pursue higher education but pretty much capable of accomplishing their responsibility with utmost sincerity, are not being valued the way they should have been. As mentioned above that for a long time and to be honest till date English is not given as much priority as it should have been given we often get stuck while doing our work which demands expertise on the English language. Besides, all of us have to deal with verity of work at our work place which are very much related to the English subject. In fact despite of the fact that the basic interview process in any company is conducted in English, there are a fair numbers of people in our society who doesn’t want the subject to be valued the exact way as it deserves. But going against the usual trend, I personally feel there is no harm in giving the English subject the most priority as most of us at some point in our life or at professional place have to face many difficulties due our lack of knowledge on the subject. I also believe that giving priority to English doesn’t mean that we will ignore our mother tongue; we can simultaneously study both the subjects and master both the language.

There is no denial of the fact that till now in our society people who are good at English are given more priority. For instance in a mall or airport a guy, talking to a shopkeeper or a staff in decent English, whether we want or not we will definitely look back and praise the person, may not be directly that guy but inside we will try to latch onto that category. Thus I believe when something makes things easier for us and help us excel in life there is no reason not to acquire that skill and progress in life.

English not only helps us to get respect in our society but also make us deserved enough to achieve good profession, which in turn make our life better. Nevertheless, the main aspect that I am trying to point out here is that, be it getting a decent job or earning respect in the society the most valuable weapon one can use is education.  As we are aware that the employment system in Bengal is not up to the mark compared to the other states and which is one of reasons why many of us now a days are planning to leave the state in fact in some cases leave the country. Since all of us look for comfort and better life thus moving out or seeking better opportunity is quite obvious reaction for all. In West Bengal especially in small companies employees are very much underpaid and there is a very less possibility that things can change in next few years. Hence according to me the only remedies we are left with is excel ourselves and look for better opportunity. However, it is true that things are getting better and hope that soon the employment system along with the payment structure will also be better in West Bengal.
