Importance of Sports

While taking about the importance of sports for the kids, I would prefer to stick to some basic outdoor sports that we are familiar with. Mostly football and cricket are the games that maximum of us have grown up playing. And now when I discuss about the essence of such games on the life of youth generations, there are certain elements which I must touch upon. One of the major aspects of getting children into sports is to maintain a good mental and physical order in them.

But in the contemporary society parents are quite likely to get involved into all possible affairs of their children and create an unhealthy competitive atmosphere into the mind of their child. Thereby as a consequence of such adverse approach of parents first of all brings about frustration in the kids and also the basic purpose of sports remains unfulfilled. Likewise, the much required mental and physical growth of children remains uncertain in most of the cases. While, playing football and cricket was a common factor during our childhood now kids barely manage time after their tight educational and other activities to go to ground and enjoy outdoor sports. In some cases it can also be found that parents’ persuasion also makes a great differentiation between the past and present time.

Aside from staying healthy, football has many other essences as well. It helps us to stay united, makes one brave and quick decision maker in life. One of the major reasons of juvenile anti-social activities to be on rise is the unsocial association of the young kids of this era. Unlike earlier nowadays children after their school either go for coaching class or come home to get ready for the evening tuition, so they don’t actually have any free time to dispose their calorie or energy. Thereby, as a very natural scientific process they tend to get involved in several unpleasant activities or get fond of internet from an early age and surfing some adult sites.

Going beyond the usual concept about sports which we are quite accustomed with i.e. sports can only be beneficial for children, but as per medical science sports can be a life changing factor for all the age groups of men and women. The recent story of the 81 years woman namely Ernestine Shepherd, who started weight lifting or body building at the age of 56, her passion towards the sports not only made her a celebrate but an inspiration for all age group of people throughout the world. There are actually many sportspersons the likes of Ernestine Shepherd, who have set themselves as a role model for many, going against all odds.

I consider myself as a lucky person for my close association with football and come across thousand of kids, who are enormously desirous to play the game. I have seen many of them growing from teenager to become a professional sportsperson, likewise witnessed few of them ending up their career against their family pressure despite their extra ordinary skill. Football has also given me the opportunity to assess the progress of a kid from a close perspective, which in turn evolves a basic sportsmanship character in me.

It is also true that compared to the European countries we are far behind to instil the desirable sporting culture in our country. Although in cities like Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Delihi etc. the participation of posh people in sports are quite impressive and the number of sporting events they have yielded in last few years is much higher than other metro cities. However, it can be expected that, keeping in mind the benefits of sports the number of participants in near future will go higher and shortly India will also be considered as a sporting country worldwide.
