The education that does not entitle the mind of a child to explore the knowledge that is enshrined in the syllabus of an education system is only considered a medium that thwarts the natural growth of a budding mind. From Ancient time scholars, critics and writers have again and again mentioned about an education system which should be prescribed, keeping in mind the fact to arouse the interest of students. Yet, for centuries the absence of the ideal education system that might intrigue that longing to study with curiosity to gain insight about different aspects of life and other factors, has never been quite happened.
Schools, colleges and university are likely to be more concerned to cover their syllabus, than to impart proper knowledge to the students. In the contemporary situation we often see that students of below class four are also carrying a huge bag full of books to their school. A young boy/girl, who barely has any idea about the world outside his/her home, is forcefully taught things that for sure only mountain pressure in the blossoming mind of the children. As a student grows old that pressure seems to only get higher with time. Just like a pressure cooker has to sustain the burring heat on the gas oven at our kitchen with every minute passing by, the young minds somewhat have to come across similar situation in life.
Not only in schools, in fact in the higher education system and colleges the similar system is quite explicitly followed throughout the year. No one really cares about how well a student is learning in our usual prescribed education system. Everyone seems to be running after a vague concept that barely complements a desirable education system. The unprecedented pressure to complete the syllabus never actually enables the students to grasp the lessons in a coherent manner. The time frame that is being well set by the respective education board to complete a syllabus is truly inadequate for the students to learn the lessons of their text books perfectly. An unhealthy education system has been prevailing in our society for a long time that only hinders the prosperity of ours.
In higher education when a student has the liberty to go for a specialization on a particular subject, the syllabus of that particular course rarely has the provision for the student to achieve expertise in a wholesome manner. In most cases, although the course is dedicated to a particular subject but the students are bound to study things that barely interest them. In fact in some instances it can be observed that honors students have to only mug-up information then to avail the opportunity to master the essence of the subject.
It is the high time when we must realize the true purpose and process of an ideal education system. Regardless of any fact, first and foremost it needs to be ensured that the education system must grow the interest of students to learn things; it should never be modeled to weight – down the curies young minds. The prevailing or usual syllabus has to be reviewed immediately and likewise, changes have to be made according to feasibility. An evaluated education system can indeed be beneficial for all of us. It will not only help the students to progress in life but also steer them to the right direction for a bright future.
