Significance of poem in our life

The fantasy of poem somewhat has significant importance in our life. More or less we all are quite familiar with the concept of poem however with age we seem to comprehend the true magnitude of it. The boundless thoughts of poets in their poems are being narrated so preciously in words that it apparently depicts the scene quite vividly in front of our eyes. Poem, as a genre of literature certainly holds a large part of our life; thinking beyond the reality we embark upon a new world of fantasy while we read one (poem).

Poets like Wordsworth, P.B. Shelly and many more for centuries remained in heart of several generations. Rewinding to the time when they have written the poems it may not have had any coherence or relevance with the present but quite surprisingly we invariably feel connected to them despite the prolonged journey of time. Poems teach us to consider nature beyond its mere outlook. We have seen time and again that poets of different centuries depicted the beauty of nature anew. Poem as a literary device brings melody to our life; it likewise helps us to realize the essence of love that has been mentioned in the poems in different eras. For an instance in the poem ‘Nala and Damayanti’; the pure love and affection of the queen for her king, makes us feel the strong bonding between the two. With that we long to experience such love in our life too; a latent desire somewhere in our mind peeps out as we contemplate the poem ‘Nala and Damayanti’ in details.

The significance of poem in our life is indeed very pivotal, in terms of understanding the history and comprehends literature to its full level. It also helps us to refresh our mind and takes us to a new horizon beyond all the limitations of reality. Flying on its dreamy wind we travel across time and facts. When our life seems to weigh us down with its cruel reality the soft melody and rhythm of poems usher new hope to our life.
