Necessity to reform the education system in Bengali Medium Schools

In the modern days when English is regarded as one of the most significant medium for communication, quite sadly in the government schools of West Bengal English as a subject is given least importance. As a consequence students of Bengali medium schools in West Bengal suffer a huge blow in their professional lives in future. Besides, in higher study generally most of the books are published in English language. In the era of globalisation it is solely necessary to have a common language to overshadow every obstacle in order to establish a friendly relationship worldwide.

It is observed that government schools located in rural as well as urban areas never make sufficient endeavour to develop English communication skills in their students. In fact it may sounds unpractical but it is the reality that more than half of the student reading at class XII cannot write a paragraph in English of their own. This basic inability caused them immense cost which they have to pay in future. It is the high time when the fact of educating Bengali medium students and equally evolving them holistically, is given utmost importance, bearing in mind the challenges they may face in future.

Since the number of students studying in government schools is relatively higher than private or non-government schools, it is a salient factor to improve education quality and giving importance for the development of students studying in government schools for the progress of our nation. Above all with proper education comes awareness in people and the ability to distinguish between good and bad. Education can also help eradicate the prolonged social stratification from our society and establish a much better social bonding between different classes of people.
