Considering the
present economic condition of our nation, one of the basic requirements of people
of our country is ‘job’. In fact during the election period “creating maximum
number of jobs for the citizen of the nation” remains one of the major agendas for
the political parties. But, in reality quite unfortunately this agenda has never
been met up, in fact instead of creating jobs the present government is busy
cutting down the opportunities of self-employment. One of the fundamental
aspects to strengthen the economy of any country is to creating maximum number
of jobs. It is indeed painful that despite the presence of people like Dr.
Abhijit Banerjee and Amarta Sen, who have been awarded the most prestigious
award ‘Nobel Prize’ in the sphere of economy, our country is going backwards in
that particular arena.
As per data the percentage
of job has remarkable gone down in last one decade in our country, but still we
expect that things are going to the right direction. The Nobel laureate Dr.
Abhijit Banerjee has clearly defined in his book as well as in interview that
in order to maintain an equilibrium in economy, it is a prerequisite factor to
ensure that the poor and lower middle class of our society have adequate opportunity
to earn more money. But, in reality, things are happening quite contradictory
to what Dr. Banerjee said. The present government seemingly chose to head to
the opposite direction; making our economy more susceptible by destroying small
businesses.
Railway, which is an
integral part of our government and also of our economy, is at the verge of becoming
private. The problem is not with the endeavour of making this sector private
but the plan and intention which has been adopted to do so is harmful for our
economy. In the process of making railway a private company the primary step
that railway has taken is to uproot the railway stalls which has been used on
rent by small vendors for more than four to five decades. In the main line of
eastern railway at Shyamnagar railway station there were two tea stalls which
have been forced to shut by railway around two years ago. And those two stalls
have been remained locked and unused ever since. I hope one does not have to be
highly qualified to contemplate the fact that a property which remain unused
can no way generate money for railway, in fact had railway set out a proper
rent on those two stalls considering the market of that particular area it might
have been a profitable and convenient venture for both the railway and those vendors.
But, when there is explicit shortage of genuine and progressive plan nothing
good can be expected. Those two tea stalls may not really matter to railway but it had certainly hold intense importance to those small
vendors and people working and directly and indirectly associated with those
two stalls.
Such, baseless act
of railway authorities should be condemned in every means because the senseless and
inhuman act of railway authorities endanger the existence many family. Those two stalls
were the bread and butter for so many and those who were working in those
stalls may have had children and it can be guessed how ruthless the moment
had been to those children and family members when they heard the only earning member
of their family lost job. Those children might have been forced to stop going
to school and joined some job due to an irrational decision of railway government
authority.
Most importantly
had those two stall been used by railway immediately after taking over we could
have understood that those places have at least been utilized by railway but it
has been around two years those two are locked and might remain in the same
condition for several years.
These two stalls
were just an epitomize of how badly our
government are being run, while making all plans for progress we must not
forget that we are still a progressing country and yet to receive the status of
many European and Asian countries where the condition of its citizen are much better
than ours. Hence it is highly expected from our government to reform their
policy and instead of trying make the country digitalize by putting so many in
risk we must progress slowly but firmly. They should not forget they are being
given the authority to run this nation by the general public and if they ignore
the basic rights of ours they shall be dethroned soon from their position.
