Necessity of Grammar in literary work of English

There have been innumerable opinions about the necessity to emphasize on grammar when it comes to evaluating once knowledge on English language. It is important to have minimum insight about the proper usage of grammatical aspects in order to write or speak decent language. In fact it is not only applicable for English but for any language. In the era of globalization the significance of having a common language is gaining popularity and English language, is undoubtedly holding the upper hand in that case.

Nevertheless, one can be well observed that we Bengalis are not only rigid but also reluctant to accept any English writing which is beyond grammatical explanation. As I already pointed out the fact that grammar is an essential part of any language but our exaggeration for grammatical explanation  seldom make the language robotic than to have a natural flow in it.

Over period of times in different eras writers from all across the world left their mark by their remarkable literary creation. It is quite surprising that many of their literary work were not beyond the grammatical evaluation. Mostly writers of African regions were among those, whose works were questioned for its grammatical perfection. However, in the world of literature those literary creation got their deserved place and never been discriminated on the ground of grammatical perfection. The impeccable passions of those writers were well portrayed through their literary work that can felt in every line of their literary creation.

Chinua Achebe and many other writers from Africa are among those popular writers of English literature. We fail to grasp the essence of the fact that the aesthetic side of any language lies in its natural elaboration that any rigid explanation could never meet. This natural flow of any language discerns it from Mathematics or any other subject that fully depend on rule. Having said that I must also admit the fact that while writing a story or anything in English we cannot fully ignore the essence of grammar. It is important to have minimum knowledge about the proper usage of the grammar yet; we also need to ensure that our knowledge of English language should not be relied upon only grammatical elaboration.

A language must be free from all the barriers of explanation and the feeling of independence should be there. It must have a sublime impact on the mind of readers, which can only be possible when the language shall be felt by the writer himself. The mere process of memorizing some of its rules can never help a writer to achieve expertise in any language.

One of the salient aspects of language is harmony, the words and the situation explained in any literary work must comment each other so that it brings about a natural flow in one’s writing. It is only possible when we would learn to comprehend the true magnitude of language that never lies in its grammatical perfection but to its natural elaboration. The more natural a write-up is the better acceptance it would have among the experts.
