More or less all of us suffer from agony and sadness for different reasons in our lives. In general our sadness revolves around certain reasons that leave us disappointed for not being able to achieve our desirable result. Despite knowing the fact that our life is not permanent here on the Earth our constant longing on establishing our possession on things or over a situation gives birth of all our distress. It is mainly our preconceived idea ‘about things to work out according tour perception’ brings about certain expectation in us and upon failure of that expectation our mind filled with grim and agony.
It is rightly mentioned in Hindu Religion book “Shri Bhagwat Geeta” that it is our desire that is the central cause to intrigue sorrow in us. Lord Krishna also mentioned repeatedly to have control over our desire and expectation to experience true happiness in life. Yet, having known all these we seem to be driven by our whim and desire relentlessly and that in turn often begets unhappiness for us. Nonetheless, it might sound easy but in reality it is quite impossible to keep ourselves aloof from all earthly longing and live a life of a saint. Given it a thought we would realize quite preciously that some way or the other we are all attracted to our goal and expectation. It varies on persons and situations to situation that how small or big our expectation is but ultimately it is our desire to achieve something in life that drives us forward.
So does that mean it is impossible to keep oneself adrift from all the earthly pleasure than the question that may arise in our mind that then why did Lord Krishna Advise us to live our life without expectation. In fact what he tried to convey to us cannot be comprehended through its literary meaning. By saying to keep our expectation subdued, he meant our greediness and envy for something that belongs to other should be restricted through our mind. It is appropriate when we work hard to achieve something or turn an unfavorable situation in our favor through hard work but when we feel jealous to see the progress of others and dream of having the same pleasure in our life without deserving it that is something forbidden by Krishna.
Our perpetual desire to latch onto the lifestyles of rich people or seeing others, our mind draw a lurking desire to have authority over some materialistic belongings, like home, car etc, and that undesirable desirers of ours keep bothering us throughout life. It is quite surprising but utterly true that there is no limitation of our greed or expectation, our mind build one after another desire to capture its authority over different things be it material or any other longing to have control over.
The day we can control our mind and can be happy with things the way it is and learn to steer our mind towards the path of spirituality overcoming the greediness of our earthly longing, we can understand the meaning of life. The day we no longer expect life to be in our way and can rather, accept the situation as it comes upon us and deal with it happily, life would be at ease. We must not forget each of our life is different, hence, it is baseless to compare our situation with us others and feel unhappy for our struggle. We all as an individual is a different being than the other one and therefore it is pretty much expected that our connection to life would also be different. Since each of our life is very unique, it is desirable that we all will experience life from different preview. The day we can perceive the concept that each of us have some uniqueness in us and it is pointless to hover around on the thought that why our life is different than other and full of struggle, life would turn out as beautiful gift. On the hand, our perpetual regrets over our incompetence would merely take us to any conclusion on the fact and rather, enmeshed us into jigsaws that would gradually make our life complex for us. Each of us must consider our life as very special gift and be thankful for everything that we have and cherish each moment of life to the fullest, because once we lose life there is no way back to re-live it any longer. Life is great the way it is.
Hmm its a very mind opening message. Life can be a competition, not against each other but against yourself. We try to be better than what we where yesterday and be better tomorrow than what we are today. In the event that you are not where you wanted to be today, agony and sadness kick-in and brings a feeling of low selfworthy. You are not where you wanted to be but also you are not where you where yesterday, Always count your blessings and strive to make another person better only then can life be worthy enjoying.
ReplyDeleteGreat thanks to Kunal's World for such inspiring posts, keep up the Good work
"our perpetual regrets over our incompetence would merely take us to any conclusion on the fact and rather, enmeshed us into jigsaws that would gradually make our life complex for us. " pretty much sums up how I understand life although it's such an intricate affair only the lord of lords can understand or perhaps he even can't !!!! The verbose phrases put together to first arrive at a coherent extract of life and its contourous ways of looking u in the face and its flaccidity which can be tricky to perceive at the first glance successfully drive home some universal truths which have puzzled men and women of all ages and continue to do so despite a huge number of people , for too much benefit, have tilted the wheel to their bend and have started preaching philosophy subscribing to their sets of belief , abjectly divorced from what our dear lord Krishna has preached.
