The wide verities of street foods of our country invariably mesmerize me with sublime joy and desire to test it again and again. India, as a vast country has diverse cultural milieu and that offers wide range of food dishes that one can never keep himself or herself away from. Being the residence of Kolkata and my little experience to visit a very few places of our nation and tested the regional foods gave me an exclusive opportunity to share my experiences with you all. I, being a pure food-lover most of the times love to test different meat and fish items that are cheaply available on road sides and cooked at home. Many may differ with me that consumption of street foods is not good for health but to me the passion for food lies in its test above all the protocols of hygiene.
First and foremost the items
that I am going to talk about are different delicious fish dishes that are
mainly cooked at home, which contains most of our plates round the year. Hilsa
or known regionally by Ilish (fish) is regarded as the king of fishes in Bengal.
It has innumerable verities of dishes that would fulfill your appetite in every
go. The recipe or dish that I am going to narrate here is the common one that
we, the Bengalis have definitely tested at home. The test of Hilsa fish is just
beyond my temptation when it is cooked with grinned Mustard and with unripe banana
which thoroughly steamed to come to a position, where the layer of Mustard
would float thickly above the dried up gravy with mouthwatering flavor and
taste of it. While, mix the gravy with rice and swallowing up the soft
delicious pieces of Hilsa with it, the entire experience would take you to a
different level. Now comes Prone or as regionally known Chingri, with same Mustard
and coconut but this time, the preparation shall be different and as it would
not have any gravy in it. The pure fragrance and hotness of chilly and Mustard
would give you a mix taste in your mouth while biting the crispy fleshes of
prone and testing the cream of coconut mixed in it.
Moving forward with these two
fish items, I would now love to talk about my all time favorite Mutton. As a
food-lover, I just enjoy eating red meats in any situation as long as it has
the strong flavor and taste in it. Now while talking about our traditional home
made Mutton that has a unique taste and can’t be compared to anything of
outside brings about an unknown happiness in my on the days I bite the juicy
bones of it. It holds different significance provided that it is being eaten
with white steam rice during meal time. Firstly, its softness and yummy flavor of
the fat would contain all your hunger and apatite while you would simply let it
go through your throat to the ultimate destination in your belly. With its
every bite the bone would release the juice that contains a richness in it
which would certainly fill your mind with joy and pleasure. The fragrance of Garam
Masala in mutton adds different taste in it among many other varieties of ingredients
that are being used to make it more rich and testy.
Now, if I talk about the
chicken items that are readily available on street in wide range of verities
from Tanduri to Reshmi Kabab, only alone its imagination intrigues my longing to
taste them right at this moment. The sizzling flavor of ‘Chicken Reshmi Kabab’
is something that all would fall in love for. Putting it in your mouth and the
first bite in it gives the strong flavor of masalas that are being added in it,
which contains both spice and hotness. On the other hand the crispy taste of
hot Tanduri brings heaven while gulping it in with every greedy bite of yours.
There is no end of testing food
but it would be more appropriate while testing and sharing my views on them
with first-hand experience (while eating) which I very much intend to do in
near future. However, food has always been my favorite and I am someone, who eats
to live not live to eat and thus, I believe in future I shall have many more beautiful
experiences to share with you all about different food items all across the
nation as well as world.
Enticing and belly churning. All the items you touched upon are my favorites. Your imageries have invoked live pictures in my mind as if I can see all those spread before and waiting for me to grace them ...
