District Football League

Having the opportunity to be into the profession related to football gave me an immense exposure to understand the game and other factors related to it from very core. The most common statement that I got to hear quite often is that football especially at district level is losing its glamour. So when I tried to evaluate the reality of this statement, I really felt the significance of it. When as a kid, I used to visit the grounds to watch senior district matches indeed the charm or the environment was really electrifying. In contrast to that time at present the scenario has changed a lot. That intensity can no more be felt during any district matches. Nowadays, neither players nor the officials feel for it the way it was felt earlier.

So now while trying to assess the entire phenomenon, one thing I realized for such negative response to district league, is lack of proper managerial activities from the part of higher authority. First and foremost factor which has put the district leagues in such vulnerable condition is ‘Khep’. Although Kheps were also quite popular in early days but the investment on Kheps has rapidly grown which in turn subsided the popularity of district matches among the general public. Apart from that the incompetence of the district authorities to conduct the leagues in an appropriate manner ultimately jeopardized its existence.

In order to change the scenario and for the development of football some initiative should be taken to popularize the game among players as well spectators. One of the most pivotal steps that district must enact is regularize the relegation and promotion system in every group. Besides, they can allow reform the registration system of footballers. Instead of only allowing the zonal wise or district wise footballers they can certainly implement some rule where a team can register up to six footballers from any district. In addition, reward is also an integral part for any agenda to succeed thus, the concerned district association should allot some financial aids to the winning team of every year.
Moreover, with the help of proper reformation in the regulation system to conduct the district leagues, progress is very much feasible. All that requires to evolve the popularity of the game is the honest desire alongside proper action of the officials of the respective district association and IFA.
