Pass-Fail Grading System in education system

The Pass-Fail method of our education system has always been the central of discussion among the intellectuals for a long period. While, a certain groups feel that it is necessary to keep the tradition going for the evolution of the students, the rest deem it as an unnecessary and utterly filthy process.

According to the former one Pass-Fail should be regarded as an inevitable part of our education system. And they opine that without the presence of it, students will have no urge to do well in schools and gradually lose the competition in the classroom. They feel in order to assess the progress of a student examination and the subsequent step related to it is absolutely necessary for the development of a student. Besides, it has also been proven that entire system of examination procedure and other related factors to it, teach the students to take pressure and hold their nerves during the pressure.

On the other hand those who are against this prevailing Pass-Fail system have shielded their stand with the logic that the assessment of a student through report card is never possible.  They have also added on that only mugging bookish knowledge does not help the holistic progress of a student. In order to achieve the desirable goal to make the best possible progress of a student can only be viable through proper systematic study which should go on throughout the year. Teachers must concentrate on the development individual student’s in everyday basis instead of relying on the yearly mark sheet.

Now, given the importance of both the opinions, we have certainly come to the conclusion that both are partial right. Because, as it is stated above that the procedure of Pass-fail instill the personality in students to work under pressure, and on the other hand those who feel it should be the only means to assess the intellectuality of a student is also correct. Thus, we must follow an education something which neither only rely on the Pass-Fail method nor fully ignore its essence. There must be a balance in between where students will have all the potentiality to showcase their talent and prosper their progress at the highest length.
